Nominee: Camille Été
Category: Media Personality of the Year
Country: Côte d’Ivoire 🇨🇮
A compelling media presence is built not only on the ability to speak, but also on the capacity to communicate ideas, connect with people and give meaning to the stories being told. For Ivorian journalist and master of ceremonies Camille Été, that journey began with a defining moment behind the microphone.
Nominated for Media Personality of the Year at the WAFRIC Awards 2026, Camille represents a multifaceted approach to communication that brings together journalism, public speaking, content creation and event presentation.
Discovering a Passion for Journalism
Camille’s professional journey began to take shape during her first year of Brevet de Technicien Supérieur (BTS) studies. In a personal LinkedIn reflection, she recalled participating in a practical exercise that required her to speak into a microphone and present a television news bulletin.
The experience helped her recognise an interest in journalism and broadcasting. Rather than leaving that discovery at the classroom level, she began researching how to develop her skills and sought opportunities to practise speaking at ceremonies.
After completing her BTS, she continued her studies in journalism, strengthening her commitment to a field she had discovered through practical experience. She has also spoken about learning from more experienced professionals, reflecting the importance she places on continuous development.
Her story offers a reminder that professional direction can emerge through experimentation, curiosity and the willingness to keep improving.

Beyond the Microphone: Communication and Public Speaking
Camille’s work extends beyond the traditional image of a journalist. She also works as a maîtresse de cérémonie—a master of ceremonies—helping guide events, introduce speakers and maintain a connection between a programme and its audience.
Her professional communication activities have included facilitating ceremonies for institutional and professional initiatives. In 2026, for example, she shared her experience hosting the official presentation of the first cohort of the Jeunes Talents en Fiscalité programme, an initiative presented by TOP TAX International.
She has also participated in conversations about public speaking, the power of words and how to structure a message to inform, persuade and engage an audience.
These activities demonstrate the range of skills involved in media presentation: clarity, preparation, audience awareness and the ability to adapt communication to different settings.
Recognition for Digital Content Creation
Camille’s work also encompasses digital content creation. In September 2023, she announced that she had won the Jeune Producteur de Contenus award at LinkedIn Local Abidjan.
In reflecting on the achievement, she credited the support and engagement of her audience and described how her participation in the LinkedIn community had encouraged her to share her news, interests and motivations.
The recognition forms another chapter in her professional journey, illustrating how communication can move across different platforms—from journalism and event hosting to professional networking and digital storytelling.
Her experience reflects the increasingly interconnected nature of the media industry, where professionals can build their public presence through multiple channels while developing a distinctive communication style.
A Commitment to Growth and Meaningful Communication
One recurring theme in Camille’s public reflections is the importance of learning. She has described seeking guidance from experienced professionals and continuing to develop her skills.
For media professionals, this willingness to grow matters. Journalism, presentation and public communication require more than visibility; they call for preparation, responsibility, adaptability and an understanding of the audience.
Through her work across journalism, event presentation and digital communication, Camille’s professional identity reflects an interest in using her voice in different environments and continuing to develop her craft.
